HERE'S SOME TIPS ON HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY PULL OFF A DOG FEATURED WEDDING.

1. INCLUDE YOUR DOG IN YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION

Have your dog feature in your wedding portrait/bridal party photos, family photos or even your engagement photo session. Bring treats to make it easier for your photographer to get your dogs attention.

Tell your photographer before the day so they can plan ahead (and bring antihistamines).

Make your dog the ring bearer. Have your dog walk down the aisle with the flower girl, page boy, bridesmaid, or even the bride. Your dog needs to be trained and well behaved to pull this off. it’s probably a good idea to do a practice run before the day. The Groom can have a treat or a favourite toy so the dog knows where to go.

Don’t just assume the wedding site you’re using allows pets. Many venues already have dogs or are home to precious native fauna so it's a good idea to make sure your dog is compatible. If your dog struggles with socialization, gets anxious in crowded situations, it's important to set realistic expectations to avoid disappointment for both you and your dog.

No need to worry. If you follow these tips you’ll give you and your dog the best chance at a successful day. And if your dog causes a bit of chaos, embrace it. I’m sure it will make a great story that will be remembered in years to come.
